Cub Scout Pack 42 ~ Marlborough, MA“From the Desk of the Chair…” To: All Pack familiesFrom: Tim Walsh, 2008 Committee ChairRE: November Update Hi all, The theme of our November Pack Meeting, as we approach the holiday season, is “seeds of kindness” and I can’t thank enough all those who are showing kindness to our Pack by helping in ways both big and small. It’s very much appreciated!   Special thanks go to Beth Bartlett for her ongoing efforts in support of our Pack. Her dedication has kept the spirit of our Pack alive, to Lynne Warren for handling the Pack’s popcorn efforts so well this year, and to Jim DeHart who has been so willing to jump in feet first and help with enthusiasm that is infectious. In addition, thanks to all of our Den Leaders – your work with our boys every week is what makes the scouting program work so well. A very special thanks too to Chris Ray and Clement Saintus who have agreed to share the role of Committee Chair for 2009, Barbara O’Leary who agreed to serve as our Treasurer, to Andy Staley who has re-upped as our Charter Organization Representative, and to Erica McGrath who agreed to help out Beth & Bob Fillios (thanks, Bob!) as an Assistant Cubmaster! Without your help, our Pack would not exist and all the folks in our Pack Family are in your debt. November Pack Meeting: Our November Pack Meeting tries to carry out the month’s theme in a fun way that has become a Pack tradition. The Pack meeting will feature a bingo night and the whole family is welcome to participate. While we will have some prizes for the winners, we hope that the real winner of the night will be the Marlborough Food Pantry. Here’s how: Every participant should bring along some change – you know, silver coins you might have hanging around in a change jar – dimes, nickels, and quarters. Each participant will use that change as their bingo markers. At the end of each game, scoop up the change from your table and we’ll use whatever dollars we collect to purchase much needed Gift Cards for the Food Pantry. Simple, Useful, and Fun! Coat Drive: Remember too that November marks the second round of our winter coat collection drive. Bring in your gently used coats, hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves and we’ll pass them on to those in need. Re-registration time – money due: Now that we have those leaders needed to re-charter our Pack, we can move forward with our annual re-chartering process. Each December, the Pack must re-establish itself as a city Pack and re-register all our active boys and leaders. The annual fee for each boy remains the same as past years: $45 per child. This does not apply to new boys who paid in September – just to those returning members. Please bring your payment to our upcoming November Pack Meeting.Pack Calendar:  Attached is the most current Pack Calendar. Please keep it handy! It’s a helpful way to keep track of what’s happening every month. Pinewood Derby Cars coming: Get ready for the big event! We’ll be distributing Pinewood Derby cars at the November meeting…the Pack provides them free of charge…be sure to get yours to join in the fun! Webelos Event: First and Second Year Webelos – don’t miss out on Council’s next “Webelos Activity Meet”. It’s a great way to complete two activity badges in just 3 hours time. Parents should sign their boys up individually, but we’ll meet up as a group at the event. While the deadline is not technically until January, events like this fill up quickly, so sign-up now! The flyer is attached… Next Leader Meeting: Our next leader meeting will be at my house – 104 Maple Street at Greendale Ave. – on Monday, December 1st from 7:00 – 8:30 PM.  Volunteers Still Needed:  While we have those key positions needed for re-chartering covered, we still need every families help…in the past, we’ve sent out lists of jobs that we needed to fill. Most of those jobs are still open. We’ll be looking for your help for various things throughout the year: stay tuned!   Thanks everyone and see you soon! Tim Timothy S.WalshThe Paper Store, Inc.Corporate Office20 Main Street ~ Acton, MA  01720(978) 263-2198 X278 (P)(978) 263-2466 (F) / (978) 844-0775 (C) www.thepaperstore.comP Please consider the environment before printing this email.
